BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- China and Mexico on Wednesday vowed to establish a regular exchange mechanism between the press of the two countries and strengthen their cooperation.

The pledge came out of a meeting between Liu Yunshan, publicity chief of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Alejandra Sota Mirafuentes, general coordinator of media and communications of the Mexican Presidential Office, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

China is ready to take this year, the 40th anniversary of bilateral ties, as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges between the press, especially new media, and cooperate in various ways in order to contribute to the two countries' political mutual trust and friendly relationship, Liu said.

He added that China will work with Mexico to further develop their strategic partnership and promote the long-term and stable development of bilateral reciprocal cooperation.

Sota, who is on her first China visit, said she hopes to learn more about China during the visit, promote press cooperation and establish a regular exchange mechanism.

She said enhancing dialogue and cooperation between Mexico and China, two influential developing countries, will benefit the two countries and peoples and help maintain the overall interests of all developing countries.
