BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Over 60,000 people in a southwest China quake zone had regained access to water as of Friday, the Ministry of Water Resources said.
As of Friday, local governments and disaster relief teams had repaired 36.4 km of water pipes and 265 water cellars that were damaged by last week's earthquakes, according to a statement posted on the ministry's website.
Thanks to unremitting efforts, water supplies had been restored to 60,300 residents in quake-hit regions in Yunnan province, the statement said.
Multiple earthquakes struck Yiliang county and neighboring areas in Yunnan on Sept. 7, killing at least 81 people.
