KIEV, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chen Zhili, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, and Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov met here on Thursday to discuss relations between their two countries.

China-Ukraine relations have maintained sustainable development since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992, said Chen.

The two sides have strengthened political mutual trust and expanded cooperation in such areas as agriculture and healthcare, she said.

Azarov, for his part, said the Ukrainian government attaches great importance to its friendship with China.

He voiced the hope that the two sides will boost pragmatic cooperation in economics and trade, energy, agriculture and other areas.

Ukraine is ready to further develop friendly ties with China, Azarov said.

Chen arrived here late Wednesday for a goodwill visit.
