URUMQI, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Sunday called on China and Turkey to continue to support each other on major issues concerning sovereignty and territorial integrity.
"The two countries should enhance political mutual trust and coordinate more closely on major international affairs," said Wen, as he met with Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan on the sidelines of the second China-Eurasia Expo, being held in Urumqi of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China.
Wen said the two countries continue to deepen their strategic relationship of cooperation, facing the global financial crisis and complicated regional situation together.
He also called on the two countries to strengthen cooperation in areas including trade, infrastructure construction and high and new technology, and jointly make the Year of Chinese Culture a success so as to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
Babacan echoed Wen, saying Turkey and China share broad common interests. The two countries have respected and supported each other on core concerns, and boosted comprehensive cooperation in politics, the economy and security since their establishment of ties.
Turkey is ready to expand reciprocal cooperation with China, strengthen communication and coordination on international affairs, and push forward a greater development of their bilateral relations, he vowed.
