PHNOM PENH, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen met Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi during his attendance at the ARF Foreign Ministers'meetings in Cambodia on Tuesday.

Cambodia-China relations are in very good shape. The state visit to Cambodia by President Hu Jintao this year gave a strong boost to the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. Cambodia appreciates the valuable support and help provided by the Chinese government and people in Cambodia's economic and social development, said Hun Sen.

He also said the people of Cambodia appreciated that China has always lived up to its word. The strong presence of China at the meetings shows China's support for Cambodia as the host country. Cambodia sees in China a partner for ASEAN development and cooperation, and ASEAN should focus on how to achieve regional stability, development and prosperity, said Hun Sen.

The comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Cambodia is developing smoothly, as the two sides have deepened pragmatic cooperation in various fields and maintained sound coordination and cooperation in regional and international affairs, said Yang Jiechi.

President Hu Jintao's visit to Cambodia this year was highly successful, during which the two sides issued the Joint Statement, charting the course for the all-round and in-depth growth of China- Cambodia relations in the new circumstances. The Chinese side appreciates the long-standing, firm support of Cambodia for China on issues that concern China's core interests. China wants to enhance practical cooperation with Cambodia, support Cambodia in playing an important role in international and regional issues and will work with Cambodia to push forward the bilateral ties, said Yang.

Yang Jiechi expressed appreciation for the active efforts of Cambodia as the ASEAN Chair for the success of the meetings. He said that how to uphold peace and promote development is the top concern of regional countries.

The Chinese side hopes that the ARF Foreign Ministers' meetings will send a positive signal of increasing mutual trust and promoting cooperation, enhance the parties' capacity for handling challenges together, strengthen the internal drivers of growth in Asia and solidify the momentum of Asian development, said Yang.

On the same day, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi also met with Mr. Hor Namhong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, and exchanged views with him on bilateral relations and issues of common interest.
