BEIJING, June 20 (Xinhua) -- A senior government official has called for deeper understanding and further implementation of the "Scientific Outlook on Development," the official guiding ideology of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remark during a Tuesday visit to Huailai county in north China's Hebei province.
Zhou called Huailai to improve the quality of its economic development, as well as boost people's livelihoods and social harmony.
While visiting a local industrial park, Zhou said he appreciates the park's efforts to adopt practices related to sustainable development and environmental protection, adding that he expects the park to further improve its efficiency and reduce pollution.
Zhou urged local farmers to apply the latest agricultural technology, maintain the quality of their produce and work to fully develop their businesses.
Huailai is known for its high-quality grapes and is the home of a renowned Chinese wine company.
Huailai's development proves that the Scientific Outlook on Development fits with China's reality, Zhou said.
He urged local officials to further study and fully implement the Scientific Outlook on Development and to welcome the 18th CPC National Congress to be held later this year.
More efforts should be made to provide all people with equal access to public services and reform social management, he said.
