SIEM REAP, Cambodia, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao traveled to Siem Reap Sunday from Phnom Penh, continuing his state visit to Cambodia.
President Hu, who concluded his activities in the Cambodian capital, arrived in Siem Reap in the morning.
In the afternoon, the Chinese leader inspected the restoration work on Takeo temple in the complex of Angkor Archaeological Park.
Assisted by the Chinese government, the restoration work for the temple started in November 2010. The project would take eight years to be completed.
In 1997, China and Cambodia started the first phase on the conservation and restoration of Chausay Tevada temple and the project was completed in December 2008.
The temples of Angkor, which were built between the 7th and the 13th centuries, had been seriously damaged due to heavy rains, looting and lack of protection.
President Hu, who began his Cambodia visit Friday, met Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Senate President Chea Sim, National Assembly President Heng Samrin, and Prime Minister Hun Sen on Saturday.
The two sides exchanged views on enlarging bilateral cooperation and signed a host of cooperation documents.
