SEOUL, March 27 (Xinhua) -- The just-concluded Seoul Nuclear Security Summit has raised international awareness of and attention to nuclear security, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu said here Tuesday.
"Through discussions at the meeting, countries further raised their awareness of the importance of nuclear security and enhanced their willingness to take measures to strengthen national capacities in nuclear security and participate in relevant international cooperation," Ma told a press briefing.
The summit, which issued the Seoul communique, took place at a time when the international situation is undergoing profound and complex changes and there is broad international attention on the issue of strengthening nuclear security and countering nuclear terrorism, he said.
Countries also shared their practices and experience in nuclear security in an in-depth manner, he said.
At the summit held from Monday to Tuesday, participating world leaders stated their respective views and measures on nuclear security.
They also agreed progress has been made in the global community's effort to strengthen national nuclear security and promote international nuclear cooperation since the Washington summit.
