TOKYO, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares ended the trading
Wednesday lower as investors sought to lock in recent gains amid
concerns over an upcoming referendum in Britain to decide its
membership in the European Union.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 103.39 points, or
0.64 percent, from Tuesday at 16,065.72.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo
Stock Exchange was down 9.29 points, or 0.72 percent, to
1,284.61.
Decliners were led by electric power and gas, iron and steel as
well as marine transportation issues, while gainers included
information and communication, and mining issues.
The day's turnover was about 1,703.8 billion yen (around 16.31
billion U.S. dollars). Enditem
