TOKYO, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Japan's consumer prices in November were up 2.7 percent in November from the previous year, marking the 18th straight monthly gain, government data showed Friday.
The core consumer price index, which excludes volatile fresh food prices, stood at 103.4 against the 2010 base of 100, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said in a preliminary report.
The pace of price increases was narrower than the 2.9 percent rise in October, posting the smallest gain since the 3-percentage consumption tax hike in April.
Average monthly household spending in the same period fell an inflation-adjusted 2.5 percent from a year earlier. It was the eighth consecutive month of decline but narrower than the 4.0 percent fall in October.
