Vietnam's industrial production index in Nov. to see highest year-on-year increase in nine months

HANOI, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's industrial production index (IPI) in November is likely to see a year-on-year increase of 11.1 percent, the highest in the past nine months, according to the country's General Statistics Office (GSO) on Thursday.

The office said in its monthly statistical report posted on its website that the November IPI index is estimated to increase by 5. 3 percent compared to the previous month.

The figure will help bring the 11-month index to rise by 7.5 percent year-on-year. Of which, the processing and manufacturing sector is estimated to grow by 8.6 percent year-on-year, contributing 6 percentage points to the overall growth.

Electricity production and distribution is expected to increase by 11.7 percent year-on-year, making up 0.8 percentage points, while water and sewage treatment to expand by 6.4 percent (0.1 percentage points) and the mining industry to go up 2.7 percent (0. 6 percentage points).

In the first 10 months, consumption index of the processing and manufacturing sector went up 10.8 percent against the same period in 2013, while the inventory index of the sector as of Nov. 1 decreased by 0.3 percent over that of October and swelled by 10.2 percent year-on-year, said GSO.
