Irish residential property prices up 14.9 pct

DUBLIN, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Ireland's residential property prices at a national level increased 14.9 percent in the year to August, according to official figures revealed on Wednesday.

This compares with an increase of 13.4 percent in July and an increase of 2.8 percent recorded in the year to August 2013, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Residential property prices rose 2.3 percent in August. This compares with an increase of 2 percent recorded in July and an increase of 0.9 percent recorded in August of last year.

In Dublin, residential property prices grew by 3.5 percent in August and were 25.1 percent higher than a year ago.

Dublin house prices rose 3.5 percent in the month and were 24.7 percent higher compared to a year earlier.

The price of residential properties in the rest of Ireland is 44.6 percent lower than their highest level in September 2007. Overall, the national index is 41 percent lower than its highest level in 2007.
