FRANKFURT, July 22 (Xinhua) -- The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Tuesday advanced and closed 1.27 percent higher.
After three loss-making trading days, the DAX index added 122.28 points and closed at 9734.33 points amid signs that the tension in Ukraine is easing.
The majority of the DAX shares managed to rise on Tuesday. Infineon Technologies AG, the semiconductor and system solutions provider, gained the most at 2.34 percent, followed by the utilities company E.ON AG, Siemens AG, Continental AG and Daimler AG, climbing 2.31 percent, 2.2 percent, 2.1 percent and 1.93 percent respectively.
Beiersdorf Aktiengesellschaft, a personal care company, lost 0.34 percent. Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. dropped 0.12 percent and the chemical company LANXESS AG slipped by 0.1 percent.
The turnover stood at 2.51 billion euros (around 3.4 billion U.S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 240.45 million euros (around 325.25 million U.S. dollars).
