TOKYO, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened slightly higher on Monday morning as market sentiment was lifted by the yen's depreciation versus the U.S. dollar.

Meanwhile, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 0.80 point, or 0.06 percent, to 1, 284.44.

Major gainers included brokerage, marine transport and rubber product shares, while retail and mining issues lost ground.
