FRANKFURT, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday declined slightly by 0.29 percent and closed at 9883.98 points.
The German business daily Handelsblatt quoted analyst Gregory Kuhn of IG Markets as saying that the tense situation in the trouble spots of Ukraine and Iraq continued to reflect a subdued mood in the equity markets.
SAP AG was the biggest winner of the day which rose by 0.87 percent. Merck KGaA, Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co., Infineon Technologies AG and HeidelbergCement AG also made it into the top five risers of the day.
On the other hand, share prices of Deutsche Bank AG, Beiersdorf Aktiengesellschaft and RWE AG St suffered a decline of 1.53 percent, 1.25 percent and 1.09 percent respectively.
The turnover stood at 2.31 billion euros (around 3.13 billion U.S. dollars).
