TOKYO, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended slightly higher in the morning session of Tuesday following overnight gains on Wall Street.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 44.14 points, or 0.3 percent, from Monday to 14,556.52.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 2.14 points, or 0.18 percent, to 1,173. 54.
Gainers were led by rubber, utility and construction shares while paper and pulp, shipping and banking issues lost ground.
