DETROIT, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- U.S. car maker Ford unveiled its new F-150 truck on Monday at the North American International Auto Show, featuring a lighter-weight aluminum body.
The new model, equipped with a 2.7-liter or 3.5-liter V6 Ecoboost engine, is more fuel efficient and much lighter than the steel-made autos.
"It's made from a high quality aluminum alloy that's more dense and more resistant to corrosion and corruption," said Raj Nair, vice president of global development at Ford.
"Fuel efficiency is now a reason to buy a Ford product," Ford's Chairman Bill Ford said.
Besides the new F-150, Ford also revealed a new Ford Transit, a light cargo van, and the Ford Atlas, a concept pickup truck.
The show, which began here Monday, is to open to the public until Saturday.
