TOKYO, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Nikkei ended at a one-month high above the 14,000 line as buying on the yen's weakness offset earlier selling to lock in recent sharp gains.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average closed up 75.43 points, or 0. 54 percent, from Tuesday at 14,053.87, the highest level since Aug. 6.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 7.12 points, or 0.62 percent, at 1,156. 30.
Gainers were led by sea transport, securities and real estate companies, while decliners included precision machinery, insurance and utilities issues.
The turnover was about 1,788.1 billion yen (17.96 billion dollars).
