DHAKA, July 8 (Xinhua) -- The average inflation rate in Bangladesh during the 12 months of the 2012-13 fiscal year concluded in the last month eased to 6.78 percent, official data showed Monday.
The South Asian country's average inflation rate in the previous the 2011-12 fiscal year (July 2011-June 2012) reached 8. 69 percent.
According to Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the average food inflation rate fell to 5.22 percent in the 2012-13 fiscal year (July 2012-June 2013) from 7.73 percent in 2011-12 fiscal year. Non-food inflation also eased to 9.17 percent compared to the previous year's 10.21 percent, it showed.
On a monthly basis, according to BBS data, Bangladesh's June inflation leaped to 8.05 percent from 7.98 percent in May.
The BBS data showed that food inflation also leaped to 8.26 percent in June from 8.13 percent in the previous month. Non-food inflation, however, eased slightly to 7.75 percent compared to the previous month's 7.76 percent, it showed.
