Nikkei ends 6.35 pct lower

TOKYO, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Nikkei ended more than 6 percent lower to its lowest level in over two months Thursday in Tokyo, slipping below the 12,500 line on the yen's surge.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 843.94 points, or 6. 35 percent, from Wednesday at 12,445.38, the lowest level since April 3, a day before the Bank of Japan unveiled aggressive monetary easing measures. It was the second biggest point decline for 2013.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 52.37 points, or 4.78 percent, at 1, 044.17.

Stocks fell across the board led by consumer finance, communications and securities issues.

The turnover was about 2,693.5 billion yen (about 28.46 billion U.S. dollars).
