BANGKOK, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Commerce Ministry on Wednesday revealed that the general consumer price index (CPI) of the country for April increased to 104.90, which is increased by 2. 42 percent from last year and 0.16 percent from March 2013.
Watcharee Wimuktayon, Secretary for Commerce under the Commerce Ministry said the average rate for the first four months of this year rose at 2.92 percent from the previous year.
As for the core consumer price index for April the number is 102.93, a 1.18 percent year-on-year increase and 0.06 percent from that of March 2013. The average rate for the first four months of this year rose at 1.39 percent from the previous year.
As for the food and drink products category, the price index for April increased to 107.99, which is by 4.15 percent from last year; and 1.12 percent from March 2013.
Meanwhile, the index for non food and drink products for April was at 103.04, with an increase of 1.42 percent from last year, but decreasing 0.33 percent from March 2013.
The ministry of commerce has targeted the inflation rate at 2.8- 3.4 percent.
