TOKYO, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Nikkei opened 1.41 percent higher Thursday on a weaker yen, hitting a new four-and-a-half-year intraday high as concerns over Cyprus' bailout plan dipped.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 175.60 points, or 1.41 percent, from Tuesday at 12,643.83, after rising to as high as 12,645.64.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 15.44 points, or 1.48 percent, at 1, 061.33.
The Japan's markets were closed Wednesday for a national holiday.
