SYDNEY, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Australia's job advertising rose to the highest level in February since October 2012, according to the ANZ Bank Job Advertisement survey released on Monday.
The survey showed the total number of advertisement on the Internet and in newspapers rose 3.0 percent in February.
Job advertising on the Internet was up 3.3 percent in the month while newspaper job advertisements fell 2.9 percent.
ANZ head of Australian Economic and Property Research Ivan Colhoun said the February rise in job advertising suggested tentative signs of a tantalization in hiring intentions.
The bank expects an improvement in the European and Chinese economies and remains confident that the U.S. recovery will continue despite a large fiscal drag.
Colhoun said rising Australian house prices, equity markets and consumer confidence should support stronger domestic economic activity.
"Despite tentative signs that labor demand might be stabilizing, we expect a continued gradual rise in the unemployment rate to around 5.75 percent by mid year," he added.
