TOKYO, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Nikkei opened 0.49 percent lower Thursday after the market hit a record high since September 2008 Wednesday as investors sought to lock in gains.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 55.74 points, or 0.49 percent, from Wednesday to 11,412.54.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 3.87 points, or 0.40 percent, at 969. 83.
