TOKYO, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The benchmark Nikkei index ended 2. 28 percent higher at a 33-month high Wednesday.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average climbed 247.23 points from Tuesday to 11,113.95, its highest closing level since April 27, 2010. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 13.91 points, or 1.51 percent, at 934. 67.
Gainers included construction, warehouse and real estate shares while the sole decliner was the utilities sector.
The turnover was about 1,977.8 billion yen (about 21.77 billion U.S. dollars).
