TOKYO, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Nikkei opened sharply higher Friday on weaker yen and expectations of further monetary easing policy by the Bank of Japan next week.
At 9: 15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 236.68 points, or 2.23 percent, to 10,846.32.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 16.75 points, or 1.88 percent, at 907. 21.
