BRUSSELS, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Annual inflation in the 17-member eurozone stood at 2.2 percent in December 2012, the European Union's (EU) statistical office Eurostat reported on Wednesday.
This is the lowest annual inflation recorded in the 17-member single currency zone in about two years, but is still higher than the European Central Bank's inflation target of 2 percent.
Month on month, consumer prices were 0.4 percent higher in December than the previous month.
As for the wider 27-nation EU, the inflation stood at 2.3 percent and 0.3 percent on an annual and monthly basis respectively.
