International trade fair opens in Pyongyang

PYONGYANG, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- More than 200 companies from 12 countries took part in the eighth Pyongyang Autumn International Trade Fair, which opened here on Monday.

"The annual trade fair plays a positive role in expanding economic relations among countries through joint ventures, investment and science and technology exchanges," O Il Hun, vice director of the Korean International Exhibition Corporation, told the opening ceremony.

So Kil Bok, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK) vice foreign trade minister, said the country would continue to boost bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation with other countries based on equality and mutual benefits.

A total of 215 companies, of which 126 are from China, showcased their machines, electronics, cars and garment. ( A DPRK-made tablet computer branded the "Samjiyon," made by the Korean Computer Center, was in the limelight at the fair, which ends Thursday.
