TOKYO, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Nikkei closed up 0.39 percent higher Thursday.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average closed up 35.19 points, or 0. 39 percent, from the previous day at 8,995.15 after moving above the 9,000 level for the first time in two weeks. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange added 2.41 points, or 0.32 percent, to 744.23.
Gainers included the sea transport firms, utility suppliers and paper makers. Decliners included the food, fishery and forestry, and real estate sectors.
The turnover was about 769.7 billion yen (about 9.91 billion U. S. dollars).
