Belarus reports mild increase in GDP for Q1   2012-04-14 08:36:26            

MINSK, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Belarus achieved 153.6 trillion Belarusian rubles (about 12.78 billion U.S. dollars) in gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter of the year, up 3 percent from the same period of last year, the country's National Statistics Committee said Friday.

The production of industrial products during January-March period went up 8.3 percent, with innovative products accounting for 17.8 percent, while production of both agricultural farms and agricultural organizations also increased by 5 percent and by 4.5 percent, respectively.

The investment in fixed assets, however, decreased by 15.1 percent in the past three months, said the committee.

The government predicts a growth of 5 percent to 5.5 percent in GDP for the year of 2012.
