LUSAKA, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Zambian government said on Saturday it would restrict travellers from Ebola-hit nations to enter the country and ban Zambians from travelling to Ebola affected nations.

"All delegates from any of the countries affected by Ebola virus disease are restricted from entering Zambia until further notice," according to a statement posted on the website of the Zambian Health Ministry.

In addition, the statement said that "all Zambians travelling from the Ebola affected areas will be thoroughly screened and quarantined."

The World Health Organization said that nearly 1,000 people have been killed in west African countries since the outbreak of the disease in Guinea in March.
