PARIS, July 24 (Xinhua) -- French Transport Minister Frederic Cuvilier on Thursday said "likely many" French passengers were on board of Air Algerie flight which reported missing.
Speaking to the news channel BFMTV, the minister announced "likely many French passengers were on board. We opened a crisis centre."
Earlier in the day, Algerian authorities said losing contact with flight AH5017 en route from Ouagadougou to Algiers, 50 minutes after it took off from Burkina Faso.
Operated by Air Algerie, the Spanish MD-83 aircraft carried 110 passengers and six Spanish crew, according to the report.

ALGIERS, July.24 (Xinhua) -- A passenger plane of Algeria's state-run Air Algerie has gone missing earlier Thursday 50 minutes after taking off from Ouagadougou Airport in Burkina Faso, the official APS news agency reported.
"Air navigation services of Air Algerie have lost contact on Thursday with AH 5017 flight coming from Ouagadougou to Algiers, at around 1:55 am GMT, or 50 minutes after take-off," APS said, quoting an Air Algerie statement. Full story
