TUNIS, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- A Libyan military rescue plane crashed early Friday in Grombalia city in Tunisia's Nabeul governorate, some 60 km north of the capital Tunis, killing 11 people on board, a spokesman of the Tunisian defense ministry said.

The Russian-made plane crashed while 11 people, including three patients, were on board, spokesman Tawfiq Al Rahmouni said.

He did not point out the reason behind the crash. However, he noted that the latest call from the plane with the control tower in Tunis-Corthage Airport reported that a fire broke out in the aircraft.
