Morsi's trial adjourned to Feb. 1

CAIRO, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Cairo Criminal Court adjourned on Wednesday the trail of ousted president Mohamed Morsi over inciting the killing of protesters to Feb. 1 due to the bad weather that prevented his transport to the court, the state TV reported.

CAIRO, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- The bad weather prevented the Egyptian authorities from transferring ousted president Mohamed Morsi from his prison in Alexandria to the court in Cairo, state media reported Wednesday.

Earlier, the state TV said that Morsi arrived at the court in Cairo along with another 14 defendants to stand trial on charges of inciting violence during his one-year rule. However, it later quoted a top security official in Alexandria as saying that the bad weather held Morsi's helicopter back. Full story

Egypt's Morsi in court for second time over violence charges

CAIRO, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Egypt's ousted president Mohamed Morsi on Wednesday morning arrived at the courthouse in Cairo for the second session of his trial over charges of inciting killing protesters outside presidential palace during his rule, state TV reported.

Morsi stands trial along with another 14 Muslim Brotherhood top leaders on charges of inciting clashes between his supporters and opponents outside the presidential palace in Cairo in December 2012, which left at least seven people dead. Full story

Egypt arrests Morsi's spokesman

CAIRO, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- The Egyptian authorities arrested Yassir Ali, a Muslim Brotherhood leader and former presidential spokesman of ousted Islamist President Mohamed Morsi, Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim told a local TV channel on Tuesday.

"Yasser Ali has been referred to Dokki police station in Giza," the minister noted. Full story

Morsi’s prime minister arrested

BEIJING, Dec. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- Egyptian state television reports that the country’s former Prime Minister Hesham Kandil, who served under ousted President Mohamed Morsi, has been arrested to serve a previous court order of imprisonment for one year. Full story
