Obama shakes hands with Cuban president Castro

JOHANNESBURG, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama shook hands with his Cuban counterpart Raul Castro while attending the memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela on Tuesday.

This came after small steps taken by the two sides recently toward rapprochement.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama and his predecessor George W. Bush left Monday morning for a memorial service for the late South African President Nelson Mandela, slated for Tuesday in Johannesburg.
