ALGIERS, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Algerian armed forces managed to size a large quantity of weapons on the border of Algerian with Libya and Niger, a security source told Xinhua on Friday.
The source said that the operation was conducted by some 2,000 soldiers, which seized quantities of anti-tank missiles, Strela- type missiles, anti-aircraft missiles and modern rocket launchers.
The source specified that another vehicle, carrying weapons, managed to escape, probably to Niger, while a search operation has been launched in the Algerian desert.
It is about the largest arms quantity ever sized for a year, the source added.
An Algerian security source told Xinhua that the Algerian military authorities refused to cooperate with the Libyan militias which are controlling the border, after the official forces withdrew to restore stability in the capital Tripoli and Benghazi.
