Al-Shabaab leader threatens more bloodshed to press for Kenya troops pullout
MOGADISHU, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- The reclusive leader of the Somali Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab on Wednesday threatened more bloodshed to press for the pullout of Kenyan troops from the Horn of African country.
The threat came one day after Kenya declared triumph over a group of Al-Shabaab gunmen, who stormed the Westgate shopping mall in the capital Nairobi on Saturday to start a four-day standoff with security forces. Full story
Kenya says 62 dead, 2 terrorists killed, hostages rescued in mall crisis
NAIROBI, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Kenyan authorities on Monday put the latest toll in the mall crisis at 62, while declaring two terrorists were killed and some hostages were rescued in the latest round of fighting.
The Kenyan Interior Ministry said 62 people have been confirmed dead since Al-Qaida linked Al-Shabaab militants stormed into Nairobi's upscale Westgate shopping mall on Saturday. Full story
