BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- China on Friday called for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2085 to restore peace and security in Mali, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei.

Hong made the remarks when asked about China's stance on the deployment of an international peacekeeping force to Mali.

"China has played a constructive role in relevant discussions in the UN Security Council and calls on all parties concerned to implement Resolution 2085 on the basis of fully respecting Mali's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Hong said.

The UN Security Council authorized the deployment of the African-led International Support Mission to Mali as Resolution 2085 in December 2012.

Hong also noted that in order to restore national unity, peace and security in Mali, China has continuously supported efforts made by countries and regional organizations in this regard and will continue to join such efforts.
