CAIRO, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- The hostage death toll from a four- day siege at Algerian Gas Facility In Amenas has increased after at least nine Japanese also reported killed in the attack, Al- Jazeera reported on Monday citing a Japanese official.
"We received information from the Algerian government that nine Japanese nationals were killed in the attack," a well-placed source at Japan's government told Al-Jazeera.
Algerian prime Minister Abdel Malek Sellal will hold a press conference on Monday to give details of this terror attack.
Algerian Special Forces stormed the gas field facility on Thursday and ended the operation on Saturday, rescuing 685 Algerians and 107 foreigners. Meantime, the operation left the U.S. , British, French, Japanese, Norwegian, Romanian nationals dead.
Five Islamist attackers were reportedly arrested on Sunday.
