Pic story: Inheritor of shadow puppet play Liu Zhaokan

Liu Zhaokan (L), an inheritor of shadow puppet play, manipulates leather puppets for the shadow play in Tengchong City, southwest China's Yunnan Province, Nov. 23, 2017. Liu, born in 1992, is the sixth generation inheritor of shadow puppet play in Liujiazhai of Tengchong. Liu established a shadow puppet center in Tengchong to promote the industrial development of the traditional folk art. Shadow play, performed by manipulating flat leather puppets against a lit-up translucent screen, was registered in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO in 2011.
