AMMAN, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Tuesday condemned targeting Saudi Arabia's Riyadh with a ballistic missile fired by the Houthi rebels in Yemen, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
Jordan's Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said the attack is rejected and is an act of aggression.
The minister stressed Jordan's support to Saudi Arabia and to its efforts in facing the repeated violations by the Houthi rebels, voicing condemnation of any military actions that target civilians.
Jordan, he said, supported Saudi Arabia's efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis in Yemen, calling on all Yemeni parties to denounce violence and resort to negotiations.
On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia accused Iran of trafficking missiles to Yemen, indicating that the missile intercepted 25 km away from Riyadh was made in Iran, Al Ekhbariyal local news channel reported.
The missile targeted a residential area south Riyadh and it was intercepted before causing any injuries or damages, the coalition spokesperson, Brigadier Turki Al Maliki, said.
On Nov. 4, Saudi air defences also shot down a ballistic missile fired by Houthis in Yemen over the King Khaled International Airport north of Saudi capital Riyadh.
Houthi militias have been targeting various Saudi cities with missiles since the beginning of the war of the Saudi-led coalition against Houthis in Yemen in 2015.
