DHAKA, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- A glamorous two-day Wedding Festival began in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Tuesday bringing together dozens of wedding related brands under one roof.
From wedding ensemble to jewelry, the festival has something for everyone as designers and brands from all over the country flocked to showcase their artistry.
Throughout the event, visitors are enjoying fashion shows, live music, raffle draw and many other surprise attractions.
Visitors would also know about various wedding related ancient tradition starting from designer wedding wear to five star catering options.
This year, the theme is "wedding shopping at home."
The festival covers almost everything needed for arranging a ceremony including wedding dresses, wedding event management, invitation cards, photography, decoration, and honeymoon packages.
The festival presents Palkhi which was used in ancient Bengali culture to transport the bride to her husband's home.
Wedding decorations such as the turmeric paste and henna, cosmetics, sweets and other gifts are also on the display.
Visitors are being able to get expert opinions from renowned consultants on wedding planning, menu selection, venue options, photography, videography, wedding makeovers and on many other wedding related topics exclusively.
Leading Bangladeshi local newspaper Prothom Alo has organized the festival.
Kabir Bakul, a senior Prothom Alo official, said the main purpose of the festival is to introduce people traditional Bengali style wedding ceremonies.
"Bengali people have their very rich history of marriage celebrations. We just want people of today's generation know that wedding traditions," he said.
"I think the festival will help people to know how to hold wedding ceremonies maintaining all traditional cultures and rituals."
A Bengali wedding includes many rituals and ceremonies that can span several days.
Such rituals are usually followed by the turmeric ceremonies or gaye holud ("yellowing the body").
