BEIRUT, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Monday condemned the Israeli violations of United Nations resolutions, referring to Israel's attempts to build a wall near the Blue Line.

Aoun made the remarks when meeting UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Pernille Dahler Kardel, according to the presidential media office.

Aoun assured Kardel that Lebanon is committed to UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 1701, but said Israel has violated it hundreds of times, the office said in a statement.

"Lebanon has always been in a defense position against Israel," the statement quoted Aoun as saying. Aoun referred to Israel's recent preparations to build a wall along the eastern and western sectors of the Blue Line.

Talking about U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the president said U.S. alone is not allowed to annul any UN Security Council decisions.
