VIENNA, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Austria's next coalition government has been confirmed on Friday, as the center-right People's Party and right-wing Freedom Party agreed to govern together for the next five-year term.

The leaders of both parties, Sebastian Kurz and Heinz-Christian Strache who will serve as chancellor and vice-chancellor respectively, held a press conference shortly after 9:00 p.m. local time.

Kurz is set to become Europe's youngest head of government.

Kurz noted that the two parties had been engaged in "intensive negotiations", and a coalition deal has been finalized exactly two months after the Oct. 15 election date.

Both men are expected to meet with President Alexander Van der Bellen in the Hofburg on Saturday morning, with a swearing-in likely to take place on Monday.
