GENEVA, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- The World Economic Forum (WEF) announced Wednesday that 40 leading international artists will participate in its 48th Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland in January.

The cultural leaders will join other leaders from business, government, the media and civil society to advance dialogue and drive change under the meeting's theme, "Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World," WEF said in a statement.

"Arts and culture will feature prominently in the official program with special exhibitions, installations, musical performances and screenings," said the WEF.

The cultural leaders will highlight the arts as the means to bridge divides and spur collaboration on shared global challenges at its Jan. 23-26 meeting in the Alpine resort area.

"Today we see more clearly how culture can also divide as much as it can unite. We must work together to promote dialogue and inclusivity...Artists and cultural institutions play a central role in this process," said Nico Daswani, the WEF's head of Arts and Culture.

A full list of Cultural Leaders, including the recipients of the 24th Annual Crystal Awards, will be announced in January 2018.

The WEF says it is committed to improving the state of the world, as the international organization for public-private cooperation.
