ATHENS, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Eight in 10 Greeks are still struggling to make ends meet, despite the positive trend in economic indexes, according to a survey released on Wednesday in Athens.
A total of 68 percent of respondents in the poll carried out by MRB polling firm said they were covering basic needs "with great difficulty", while 12.7 percent said that they could no longer manage.
If general elections were held this weekend, the main opposition conservative New Democracy party would win with 30.7 percent, while the Radical Left SYRIZA party which has been in office since January 2015, would garner 21.3 percent of votes.
The under construction new alliance of the center-left parties, named Movement for Change, would receive 10.1 percent, according to the poll.
The far-right Golden Dawn would follow with 6.8 percent and the Greek Communist party KKE would be the last party securing the required 3 percent threshold to enter the parliament. KKE would get 6.5 percent.
The survey was conducted between Dec. 1 and Dec. 8 among a sample of 2,000 voters.
