WARSAW, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Polish President Andrzej Duda designated Mateusz Morawiecki as Poland's new prime minister at a ceremony in the Presidential Palace here on Monday.

Duda praised Morawiecki's decision to keep the present government line-up unchanged, calling this "a good, amicable decision."

"I want to congratulate the prime minister upon his full entry into office. Someone might say that there are no changes. But there is a change: we have a new prime minister who has decided to work with the to-date cabinet before he decides about any changes in it," Duda said.

Morawiecki replaces Beata Szydlo, who resigned from her post last week. Szydlo has been appointed deputy prime minister.

The prime minister delegate will retain his post as minister of finance and development.

Morawiecki will deliver a keynote address before the lower house of Polish parliament, or the Sejm, on Tuesday, and the Sejm will on Wednesday hold a vote of confidence in the new government.
