More than 200 foreign students learn Myanmar language this year

YANGON, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's Universities of Foreign Languages (UFL) in Yangon and Mandalay regions host 243 foreign students learning Myanmar language as of Nov. 30 this year.

From 1974 to 2016-2017 academic year, a total of 1,727 foreign students attended the Myanmar language proficiency courses in UFL Yangon so far.

They are scholarship holders, army officers, diplomats, businessmen and those trying to learn about Theravada Buddhism.

Most students are from China, Japan and Thailand, according to the official from the UFL Yangon.

Meanwhile, Myanmar's Education Ministry has signed agreements with 147 universities and international organizations for educational cooperation.
