ANKARA, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on leaders of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (IOC) to convene in Istanbul on Dec. 13 to discuss the possible U.S. move to recognize Jerusalem as Israeli capital, presidential spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a news conference in Ankara, Kalin said that Erdogan has invited leaders of IOC, an international organization of 57 Muslim countries, to come together to take joint action and increase coordination among Muslim countries.

The recognition of Jerusalem as Israeli capital and the moving of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem would be a "grave mistake," Kalin said.

Erdogan on Tuesday warned that Turkey could cut diplomatic ties with Israel if the U.S. recognizes Jerusalem as Israeli capital.
