NEW DELHI, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- A commando with India's elite force - National Security Guard (NSG) - committed suicide Tuesday shortly after shooting his wife and sister-in-law, police said.
The incident took place at a camp in Manesar in Gurugram district of northern state of Haryana, on the outskirts of the Indian capital New Delhi.
"Today an assistant sub inspector (ASI) Jitender Kumar, residing in quarters in the NSG camp in Manesar, committed suicide after he allegedly shot his wife and sister-in-law," a police official said.
"Kumar was originally with the Border Security Force (BSF) and was posted here on deputation," he added.
According to police, Kumar died on spot, while his wife and sister-in-law were rushed to Rockland hospital. "Both women are stable and under medical supervision," the police said.
Police have registered a case and initiated investigations into the incident.
NSG was set up in India as a federal contingency force to tackle terrorism. Their service is sought under exceptional situations including tackling hostage crisis and hijacking tasks.
